Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan had a grand wedding function in June this year. They celebrated their union in the presence of friends and family. Superstars Rajinikanth, Shah Rukh Khan, and Suriya also graced the wedding. However, the couple had legally registered their marriage six years ago, on March 11, 2016
Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan met on the sets of the film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, that was released in 2015. While Vignesh directed the film, Nayanthara was the leading lady opposite Vijay Sethupathi
They made their first public appearance together in 2017 at an awards night in Singapore. At the function, the two won awards for Best Director and Best Actress respectively and took each other's names during their acceptance speech

Introducing their twins, Uyir and Ulagam, to their social media family, Vignesh wrote, "Nayan and Me have become Amma and Appa. We are blessed with twin baby boys. All our prayers,our ancestors' blessings combined with all the good manifestations made, have come together in the form Of two blessed babies for us."
