BTS members RM, Suga, Jin, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook received their Diplomat passports and a fountain pen from Korean President Moon Jae, who also gave them their appointment papers as his special envoy on September 14. The K-pop superstars met the President at Blue House, the official office and residence of President Moon in Seoul, for the ceremony where they were appointed "special Presidential envoy for future generations and culture."
According to reports, Moon and BTS will be in New York on September 20, to attend the UN General Assembly and they will be at the second meeting of the Sustainable Development Goals Moment (SDG Moment) of the Decade of Action.
"As BTS has delivered messages of comfort and hope to the entire world, its attendance at the UN General Assembly this time is expected to serve as a meaningful opportunity to expand communication with future generations around the world and draw their sympathy on major international issues," the Blue House said in a statement.
Proud fans of BTS, the BTS Army as they call themselves, ensured the K-pop group was trending on social media with congratulatory messages and special fan made videos.
