Monday Motivation! Bhumi Pednekar's journey to fitness

Bhumi Pednekar started out as the overweight Sandhya Verma oppossite Ayushmann Khurrana in 'Dum Laga Ke Haisha' and went on through a massive transformation post the film's release.

Bhumi made her debut as Sandhya Verma in 'Dum Laga Ke Haisha' in 2015 opposite Ayushmann Khurrana.

Bhumi who started off as an assistant to Shanoo Sharma, the casting director of Yash Raj Films (YRF) won accolades and awards for her performance.

After an impressive act in her debut, Bhumi went on to undergo a drastic transformation where she flaunted washboard abs.

According to reports the actress lost 21 Kgs in four months by making chnages in her diet and workout regime.

Bhumi Pednekar had been an overweight girl all her life. Talking about the same, she told mid-day in an interview, "I have been very comfortable with it. I wore what I wanted, did what I wanted. It was never a hindrance for me. So, when they told me I had to gain more weight, I was actually really happy because I am a foodie. No actress gets the chance to eat butter chicken, dal makhani on sets every day. Eating was part of the preparation. It was the best months of my life"

For her second film alongside Akshay Kumar 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' that released in 2017 Bhumi Pednekar appeared in a svelte avatar.

Bhumi indulges in a cheat day after 5 days of religiously working out in the gym and following her diet plan.

She added, "I do not think I would be anyone today without taking risks. It is who I am as an artiste and has become my identity and I love it. The idea to be disruptive did not really happen by chance. I always wanted to do something different, off the beaten path and have a lasting impact as an actor on the minds of people. From my first film to every film that I sign now, I first look for what is new in the script. I have always focussed on choosing great content and I'm lucky that the filmmakers have chosen me to helm their visionary projects."

During her weightloss journey Bhumi cutdown on eating out and opted for homemade food cooked by her mother instead.

Bhumi controls her sugar cravings but treating herself with dark chocolate.

The actress ensures she does not skip breakfast, which is usually museli, omlette and fruits.

The actress had also revealed that she stopped consuming sugar and added detox water to her diet.

While Bhumi continued to consume buttermilk, ghee and butter she began controlling the quantity.

In a career spanning seven years, Bhumi has featured in films like Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Lust Stories, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Badhaai Do and Bala.

The actress recently said, "I hate to be put into a mould and I constantly look to challenge the status quo and do something subversive."

Bhumi was recently seen in Sudhir Mishra's film 'Afwaah', which also starred Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Sharib Hashmi and Sumeet Vyas.

Her upcoming films include Lady Killer and Mere Husband Ki Biwi.
