Prakash Raj is often in the headlines for his statements and strong political opinions. Now, amid anticipation regarding Chandrayaan-3's Vikram Lander's landing on the lunar south pole on Wednesday, the actor shared a cartoon depicting a man in a vest and lungi pouring tea. The tweet sparked a major controversy on Twitter. Now, Prakash broke his silence over the matter.
In a new tweet, Prakash clarified, "Hate sees only Hate… I was referring to a joke of #Armstrong times… celebrating our Kerala Chaiwala... which Chaiwala did the trolls see? If you don't get a joke then the joke is on you .. GROW UP #justasking." His initial tweet read, "BREAKING NEWS:- First picture coming from the Moon by #VikramLander Wowww #justasking."

Reacting to Prakash's tweet and slamming him, netizens criticised him for not celebrating India's achievements. One person wrote, "India is the only Country where Some of its own citizens : praying for #VikramLander of Chandrayaan 3 to fail so that they can Pin down the Modi Govt. Your hate for modi is becoming hate for India"
Another person commented, "Anti-nationals are not happy about India's success... Keep crying" One netizen wrote, "Chandrayaan 3 is something whole of India must be proud of, irrespective of political ideology. Know the boundary between political vs national trolling, else stick to wetting your pants in movies."
Prakash is known to be a vocal critic of the BJP and the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. While being an actor, he was an independent candidate in the Bengaluru Central Lok Sabha constituency in the 2019 Indian general election. However, he lost.
