Still from OMG 2
Just 10 days before the release of their film, the makers of OMG 2 got a censor certificate. Owing to the sensitive topic dealt in the, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) were hesitant on giving their nod without required cuts. However, on July 31 the film was passed with a A certificate. Because of delay in censor certificate, the makers were unable to unveil the trailer of the Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam-starrer. While the trailer is yet to be unveiled, in a rare move the makers have opened the advance bookings.
On Tuesday, netizens were quick to notice how the advance bookings for the film were made available online without any formal announcement on the same or without the release of the trailer. The advance bookings have been opened for the opening weekend in limited theatres for now.
Meanwhile, talking about the censorship matter around the film, the CBFC had initially demanded over 20 cuts and changes in Akshay Kumar's character who plays Lord Shiva. According to latest reports in Bollywood Hungama, a source revealed, "The film has been passed by the CBFC but with an âA' certificate. The makers tried their best to get a U/A certificate as they believe that the under-18 crowd should watch their film for its message. However, that would have meant accepting several cuts." The reports state that the team has been suggested audio cuts and no visual cuts.
The censor certificate for the Amit Rai directorial was given on July 31, 11 days before its scheduled theatrical release. The film also stars Yami Gautam and Pankaj Tripathi in pivotal roles.
