Manisha Koirala met UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to celebrate the 100 years of the `friendship treaty` that the UK and Nepal share

Manisha Koirala, who recently grabbed headlines for her role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Heeramandi', went to meet the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak, at his residence, 10 Downing Street. The actress was there to celebrate the 100 years of the 'friendship treaty' that the UK and Nepal share. Manisha represented her country, Nepal, at the meeting and was amazed to learn that most of the people present at the PM's house had watched her latest web series, 'Heeramandi'.

Manisha Koirala took to her Instagram to share a series of pictures with PM Sunak from the meeting. She opted for a gorgeous black silk saree for the occasion. Along with the snaps, the actress wrote, "It was an honour to be invited to 10 Downing Street to celebrate United Kingdom - Nepal relations and 100 years of our friendship treaty. It was such a pleasure to hear the Prime Minister @rishisunakmp speak fondly of our country #Nepal."

The actress further wrote, "I took the liberty of inviting the P.M. and his family to come trek to Everest Base Camp. Can you believe that most of the attendees had seen #Heeramandi on Netflix and loved it? I was thrilled!!"

To note, born in Kathmandu, Manisha is the daughter of Nepalese politician Prakash Koirala. Her grandfather, Bishweshwar Prasad Koirala, was the Prime Minister of Nepal from 1959 to 1960.

About 'Heeramandi':

The star-studded cast of the series also includes Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Shekhar Suman, and Fardeen Khan. 'Heeramandi' is streaming on Netflix from May 1. In Sanjay leela Bhansali's magnum opus, Manisha Koirala plays the lead role of Mallikajaan, and the actress aced the role with grace.

'Heeramandi' revolves around India's esteemed tawaifs, also known as courtesans, navigating life amidst the struggle for independence from British rule in 1920.

Manisha's Work Front:

Manisha stepped into the world of acting with the Nepali film 'Pheri Bhetaula' in 1989. It was in 1991 when she featured in the Hindi film 'Saudagar'. She has starred in several acclaimed movies such as '1942: A Love Story', 'Bombay', 'Indian', 'Gupt: The Hidden Truth', 'Khamoshi: The Musical', 'Dil Se..', 'Kachche Dhaage', and 'Ek Chhotisi Love Story', among many others.
