Kartik Aaryan, Janhvi Kapoor, and debutant Lakshya came on board for Dharma Productions' Dostana 2 back in 2019. The film was announced as a sequel, as the name suggests, to Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham, and Priyanka Chopra's hit comedy. Aaryan and Lakshya were paired opposite each other as a couple. The film deals with the theme of homosexuality.
However, Aaryan has now been ousted from the film due to his apparent unprofessional behaviour. A source told mid-day, "It's due to the creative differences that the production house and the actor didn't get along. Aaryan wanted the makers to tone down the âhomosexual' angle in the narrative and wasn't really supportive of Lakshya."
It added, "This came as a surprise since the actor signed the film all the way back in 2019 and also shot for it for 20 days. The makers have apparently shown the door to the actor and are now looking for another star who can star opposite Lakshya in the comedy. Due to this reason, Dharma is likely to face a loss of over Rs. 20 crore."
Aaryan announced a few days back that he has finally tested negative for COVID-19 after previously contracting the deadly virus in March this year.

He took to his Instagram handle and shared the news with his fans by posting a photo depicting his excitement, along with the caption, "Negative 14 din ka vanvaas khatam Back to work."
The picture that Kartik posted was a sun-kissed selfie of him, in which he could be seen holding his index figure above his nose, in a horizontal position, imitating a negative sign. On the work-front, the actor will be seen in films like Dhamaka, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 with Tabu and Kiara Advani, the remake of Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, and Om Raut's action-drama that will be made in 3D apparently.
