Talking about his struggles and subsequent success in Hindi films, Anupam Kher has often spoken about coming to Mumbai, sleeping at railway platforms, landing a role in Mahesh Bhatt's 'Saaransh' and (almost) losing it. His fate and furore made him one of the most iconic actors as years followed by.
May 25 marks the day when his first film released, the aforementioned Bhatt directorial, and it completes 37 years today. That means Kher also competes 37 glorious years in Hindi Cinema. He penned a note on his achievement and also expressed his excitement.
He wrote- "Even today when I see my name in the opening titles of my first film #Saaransh as introducing #AnupamKher I get choked with emotions. Can't believe that tomorrow, 25th I will complete 37 years in cinema. Wah! God has really been kind!! #1DayToGo for my 37th birthday in movies! More tomorrow!" [SIC]

Anupam Kher to direct 'The Return' as Australia-India co-production
The actor collaborated with Mahesh Bhatt on multiple films thereby. Their collaborations included names like âDaddy', âDil Hai Ke Manta Nahin', âAwaargi', âChahat', and âTumsa Nahin Dekha'. Kher has dabbled with critically acclaimed films in his illustrious career in different languages. He's also one of the names to have made a name for himself in the West.
Kher won the Best Actor award at the New York City International Film Festival for the short film titled Happy Birthday. The film also bagged the Best Short Film award at the prestigious film festival. Happy Birthday, also starring Aahana Kumra, was directed by Prasad Kadam and produced by FNP Media.
Talking about this win, Kher said, "Thank you New York City International Film Festival (NYCIFF) for this great honour. It's humbling to be declared the Best Actor in this prestigious film festival. The credit goes to the whole young team of Happy Birthday and my co-actor Aahana Kumra, thanks to the director Prasad Kadam, and rest of the team."
