A few days back, the first look poster of Parineeti Chopra's Saina came out and the social media users called it out immediately for its incorrect portrayal of the badminton sport. In the poster, Chopra, who plays the badminton star Saina Nehwal, could be seen lifting the shuttlecock in the air as a serve.
Netizens pointed out that the shuttleclock in the game is served from the bottom. Amole Gupte, who has directed the drama, has now posted a note on his Facebook account and given a clarification on the same.
This is what he had to write- "Too much speculation in the digital media about the poster... "looks like a tennis serve... Saina doing a Sania" etc etc... If Saina is the flying shuttle, then clearly, the girl's hand with the National colours wristband is the hand of the Indian Girl Child aspiring to reach Saina's height!!!" [SIC]
He added, "High Concept Poster by Rahul Nanda has to be unfortunately explained in detail to a quick reacting, impatient world... not stopping to think before rubbishing anything!!! Socho!!!" [SIC]

Chopra, whose The Girl on The Train released last week on Netflix, shot for Saina in 2019. Saina was earlier supposed to be headlined by Shraddha Kapoor, who exited the project due to scheduling issues.
The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on March 26. This will be Chopra's second theatrical release for March, after Dibakar Banerjee's Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar. Also starring Arjun Kapoor, the film is scheduled to open on March 19.
