Pooja Bhatt and Sanjay Dutt
After months of speculations, it was revealed late last year that Mahesh Bhatt was indeed planning a sequel to Sadak (1991) with Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt reprising their roles. There was also talk about Alia Bhatt joining the duo. Now, we hear, the script has been finalised and the film will roll early next year in all likelihood.
A trade source says that while the makers were keen on shooting the sequel this year, it had to be pushed due to Alia's chock-a-block date diary. The source also hints that though Dutt has loved the script, he hasn't signed on the dotted line yet. "Sadak 2 has been written for Sanjay Dutt keeping his earlier character, Ravi, in mind. While Sanju is looking forward to working with Pooja and Bhatt saab again, his remuneration is still under consideration. Once that is finalised, they will announce the film."

While buzz suggests that Pooja is all set to helm the sequel, the next few weeks will see the Bhatts taking a call on the matter. "Though Mohit Suri is in contention, Bhatt saab is keen that Pooja direct the film. It will be interesting to see her act in, and direct the movie as well."
When mid-day reached out to Pooja Bhatt, she was tight-lipped about the possibility of directing Sadak 2: "I can't say it's true neither can I say it's untrue. All I can say right now is that we roll in February, 2019, and it will be a start-to-finish schedule," she said.
