Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone's Chennai Express clocked 10 years today. Directed by Rohit Shetty, it was one of the most successful films in 2013. On the occasion, the actress penned a special note for the film and her character, Meenamma. She posted an old video with her husband Ranveer where they can be seen recreating a scene from Chennai Express.
In the video, Deepika can be heard saying her popular dialogue from Chennai Express, "Kahaan se kharidi aisi bakwaas dictionary?" Ranveer enacted Shah Rukh's portion with her. It seems the video was taken when they were working together on Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani.
Deepika's caption read, "They say that comedy is the most difficult genre for an actor. So when I was offered âChennai Express', I knew I had a daunting challenge ahead of me. And while it took me a little while to find Meenama, a process that is extremely lonely and often times frightening, I'm grateful that we were able to create a character that is not only synonymous with the movie, but also one that continues to receive an abundance of love till this date..."

Rohit, the director of Chennai Express, thanked fans for the love they showered on the film. Sharing a video on his Instagram stories, he wrote, "Thank you for the love."
Released in 2013, Chennai Express was produced by Gauri Khan, Karim Morani, Ronnie Screwala and Siddharth Roy Kapur. Yunus Sajawal penned the screenplay. The romantic comedy, headlined by superstar Shah Rukh Khan followed his character Rahul, who travels to Rameshwaram in Chennai Express to immerse his late grandfather's ashes and finds himself in trouble after helping a don's daughter Meenamma (Padukone) and her cousins board the train.
Chennai Express marked Deepika's reunion with Shah Rukh after her debut Om Shanti Om (2007). Post that, they went on to collaborate on films like Happy New Year and Pathaan. The actress will be seen in a cameo role in the superstar's upcoming actioner, Jawan. It is releasing on September 7, 2023. As per reports, she plays his wife in Atlee's directorial.
