Prof. (Dr.) Shashikala Gurpur, delivering the welcome address to the audience
Symbiosis Law School, (SLS) Pune, a constituent of Symbiosis International University conducted âDeeksharambh', the Zero Day Induction, on 8th July, 2024, for the students of the B.A. LL. B (Hons.) course and for the students of the B.A. LL. B (Hons.) course at the PDCLE and Moot Court Hall at 11:00 AM and 11:45 AM respectively. Additionally, the Zero Day for the upcoming 3-year LLB and LLM batches took place at the PDCLE hall at 12:45 pm.
Prof. (Dr.) Shashikala Gurpur, Fulbright Scholar, Director, Symbiosis Law School, Pune, Dean, Faculty of Law, Symbiosis International University, Jean Monnet Chair Professor (EUC-LAMP Co-funded by EU) graciously delivered the welcome address, extending congratulations to the students for joining the institute and reassuring parents that the college is committed to fostering their children's career growth. Prof. (Dr.) Gurpur highlighted that SLS-P was among the pioneering institutions established under Symbiosis International University. She emphasized the college's impressive rankings in prestigious national assessments such as the IIRF and NIRF.
Prof. (Dr.) Gurpur elucidated the institution's dedication to delivering exceptional education, supported by distinguished law faculty and a strong emphasis on research. She introduced the institution's robust student support systems, parental collaboration and advice - aimed at ensuring both personal and professional well- being, recognizing students as pivotal stakeholders of the university. She further emphasized the college's student-centric philosophy in academic and student care initiatives. She elucidated the institution's trajectory towards quality legal education, global competence, and preparing the students for global excellence.
Prof. (Dr.) Gurpur introduced the Symbiosis Centre for Advanced Legal Studies and Research, also known as SCALSAR, detailing its objectives, conceptual framework, and resources. She emphasized the development of ideas with the support of track leaders worldwide and highlighted the globally connected centres, such as the Jean Monnet Chair, where high-level research is conducted. Additionally, she acquainted the students with the Student Advisory Board (SAB), SAB team and its president, Jayson Shetty. She also familiarizes students with various specialized Cells catering to diverse student interests, and the faculty members associated with their respective courses.
Mr. Vinay Nindane, Administrative Officer, SLS-P introduced the administrative team and Col. Radkar, Senior Campus Administrator, SLS- presented the hostel staff and provided insights into the hostel facilities and regulations, ensuring students a comfortable living environment away from home. The event drew close with the Vote of Thanks by Dr. Aparajita Mohanty, Deputy Director, Academics, SLS-P which was followed by a campus tour and engaging interaction with the Faculty of SLS-P.
