Campion School (Cooperage) reasserted its dominance in Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA) inter-school tennis as Sahil Kothari defeated his schoolmate Ishaan Sampat to win the boys under-16 singles crown.

Later, under his captaincy Campion defeated holders Don Bosco (Matunga) 2-0 in the team championship final at the MSSA tennis courts, Azad Maidan, on Wednesday.
In the one-set final, Sahil played aggressively while his power-play proved too hot for Ishaan to handle. The strongly-built Sahil dictated the rallies and broke Ishaan for the second time in the seventh game before serving out for the match to complete a deserving 6-2 victory.
In the team championship, both Sahil and Ishaan faced little difficulty in winning their respective singles ties without dropping a game to secure Campion’s 2-0 triumph. Sahil tamed Vatsal Golap 6-0, while Ishaan blanked Shaan Worlikar 6-0.
Earlier, Nandini Kumar of Bombay Scottish (Mahim) lifted the girls’ under-16 singles crown. She got the better of Akansha Kokash of IES Orion (Dadar) romping to a 6-3 victory and emerging the champ.
There was more cheer for Bombay Scottish as Vivaan Karande won the boys under-14 singles title. In the summit clash, Vivaan dominated play from the outset against Shlok Jain of Smt Ramdevi High School (Juhu) and quickly wrapped up the contest, coasting to a 6-0 win for the gold medal.
Meanwhile, Riddhi Shinde of Lakshdham High School (Goregaon) and Neha Kelkar of Balmohan Vidya Mandir English High School (Dadar) were engaged in a keen tussle for supremacy in girls U-14 before the former managed to pull through winning 6-3 to emerge victorious.
