Police torture can lead to suicide, says Pinki

Disgraced Asian Games gold medallist Pinki Pramanik was shocked to know that the gender test report was leaked by police and it was all over television channels since yesterday morning.

“I really have no words to describe my shock over the incident. How could the police leak the report to media?” questioned Pinki. “This kind of police harassment can lead anyone to commit u00a0suicide,” Pinki added.

However, after surfing television channels, the accused athlete immediately contacted lawyer Madhab Sanyal and London-based sports researcher Poishni Mitra, who stood by Pinki during her rough times. But the athlete didn’t like to comment on what the next step would be. “I will decide the future course of action after speaking to my lawyer. Till then, I have nothing to say.

Legal opinion
“My lawyer hasn’t received the photocopy of the court order yet. Let him examine it, then only I will be able to speak to you,” the athlete said yesterday.
But the athlete hinted that she would knock the door of the High Court at the earliest. “I will move to higher authority and would file a suit as to why the court order was made public, when the state-run SSKM Hospital strictly maintained the secrecy of the report till date,” Pinki added.u00a0
