Led by experienced captain Snehal Shinde, Thane Tigers overcame an early deficit to edge past their rivals Mumbai Devils 42-39 in a women’s league encounter of the Maha Kabaddi League, a joint initiative by Max Godwit and the Maharashtra State Kabaddi Association, at the Bhartiya Krida Mandir, Wadala, on Saturday.

In the men’s section, a Golden Raid by Baramati Hurricanes captain Rohit Parte, which saw him snare two points, helped his side defeat Pune Panthers 44-42 in a thrilling encounter. In a battle for supremacy among top class raiders from both sides, it was the Thane Tigers who emerged on top thanks to their sharp raiders and the mature play and patience displayed by their anti-raiders, emulating their male counterparts, who had also scored over the Mumbai Devils on the opening day.

Women’s: Thane 42: Snehal Shinde 17 (1 bonus), Amrapali Galande 11 (1 bonus), Ankita 5 (catcher) bt Mumbai Devils 39: Sayali Keripal 14 (6 bonus), Sonali Shingate 13 (3 bonus).

Men’s: Bramati 44 (Rohit Parte 12, Mobin Shaikh 11, Amit 8 (6 catches, 2 raids) beat Pune Panthers 42 (Sachin Patil 13 (1 bonus), Shubham Kumbha 5, Viraj 7 (7 catches).
