The game ended in a 1-1 draw with Jayden coming to his side's rescue with only five minutes remaining. Earlier, Cathedral went into the lead when Jaden Irani scored from the penalty spot in the 10th minute.
Jayden's grandfather, Lusitano, who resides in Goa, was set to leave for his hometown Chandor on Sunday, but stayed back to witness his grandson in action. "I am so happy to see Jayden score.
I postponed my journey only to see him play and his goal was like a bonus to me," said Lusitano, who also played football when he was young.
Jayden too was happy that he scored in front of his grandpa. "I was very excited before the match. It feels fabulous to score a goal in front of him, as he rarely gets to witness my matches," the Class IV student said.
Jayden's father Jaime, who played club level football, wants to see his son play for India someday. "Football is in my blood. I always wanted to see Jayden grow strong in this sport and started giving him personal coaching since he was three. I hope he fulfils my dream of playing for the country."
