India stunned Ireland in the World Team Squash Championships in Nimes, France yesterday
In a thrilling encounter that went down to the wire, No 10 seeds India got the better of No 7 seeds Ireland 2-1 in the prestigious World Squash Federation event that boasts a record entry of 26 nations in its inaugural edition.

India’s top player Dipika Pallikal laid the foundation for the victory with a four-game win over experienced Irish champion Madeline Perry. India No 2 Joshna Chinappa though went down to Aisling Blake in a tense five-setter to level the encounter. However, teenager Anaka Alankamony held her nerve to see off the challenge of Laura Mylotte in straight games — 12-10 11-3 11-7 to give India victory.
