Delhi's Karman Kaur humbled Rajshree Rathod 6-4, 6-1 to enter the pre-quarter-final stage of the CCI-ITF junior tennis tournament yesterday.
In the first set, Karman dropped her service twice, but still managed to clinch the set thanks to her powerful serve and her groundstrokes.
Rajshree seemed to lose steam in the second set and tamely conceded the tie in 45 minutes.
Meanwhile, in the boys’ event, Arjun Ramakrishnan and Anurag Nenwani slugged it out before the former triumphed 5-7, 6-4, 6-2.
In another encounter, Ukrainian Alexey Prokopchuk breezed into the Last 16 by beating Osama Shaikh 6-0, 6-4.
He was joined pre-quarter-finals by Sri Lanka’s Sharmal Dissanayake who defeated Dhir Gala 6-2, 6-2.u00a0
