England football star Wayne Rooney, who has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal with DC United, has purchased a £12million mansion for his family to stay in Washington. But reportedly his wife Coleen and sons — Kai, Klay, Kit and Cass, will be him for only two years.

A source told mirror.co.uk that the couple 'fell in love' with the seven-bedroom property in Wesley Heights. "Coleen will leave after two years so Kai can start senior school in the UK. Wayne stays the last year in DC on his own," the source told the British tabloid. Meanwhile Coleen's parents Tony and Colette McLoughlin will come over to America to help them settle down.

"They won't stay there full-time obviously but will spend time with Coleen and boys initially to settle them in to new country. Kai had an amazing time in Washington and loved the fact they weren't bothered by fans when out visiting the sites. The whole family is looking forward to a bit of privacy out there," the source added.

Coleen recently admitted how she misses staying in her Cheshire home where she could easily have access to her parents. "It's hard not being able to pop down the road — an eight-hour flight is a long distance," said Coleen.
