Anusree Janakiraman's brace powered Smt RSB Arya Vidya Mandir (Juhu) to the Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA) girls U-12 football title, beating Apostolic Carmel (Bandra) 3-1 in the final at Azad Maidan yesterday. Vanshika Kaud (2nd minute) opened the scoring early for the Juhu girls, after which Anusree scored twice in quick succession (19th and 23rd min) to seal the win. Prapti Parmar (39th) pulled one back for Apostolic Carmel.
St Stanislaus are all smiles after winning the U-12 football title
Thereafter, in the boys U-12 Div-I final, Clint Fernandes' heroics in the penalty shootout after a 0-0 goalless draw helped St Stanislaus (Bandra) beat Bombay Scottish (Mahim) 3-0. Stanislaus' move to replace regular goalkeeper Justin Fernandes with striker Clint proved to be the clincher as he pulled off two saves in the tie-breaker and scored too. Steve Fernandes, Atharv Bhandare netted the other two goals for the Bandra boys.
Holy Family (Andheri) celebrate after winning the MSSA boys U-12 Div-II title
Earlier, Holy Family (Andheri) won the MSSA boys U-12 Div-II title beating St Stanislaus 3-1 win via tie-breaker after a goalless encounter. Kevin Coutinho, Harshit Suvarna, Jasith Pujoory netted once each for the Andheri outfit, while only Mathew Branch scored for the Bandra side.
