Mumbai batter Prithvi Shaw won the Man of the Match award for his record-breaking 379 v Assam

Mumbai, as expected, scored a comprehensive win over hosts Assam on the final day of their Group ‘B’ Ranji Trophy game in Guwahati on Friday.


Assam were bowled out for 189 to hand Ajinkya Rahane’s Mumbai team a win by an innings and 128 runs at the Amingaon Cricket Ground.


Young spinner Musheer Khan claimed 2-11 in two overs, figures that included the dismissal of skipper Gokul Sharma for 82. Shardul Thakur and Mohit Avasthi claimed three and two wickets on the previous day while Shams Mulani and Royston Dias claimed one apiece on Friday. Mumbai claimed seven points from their win while Assam didn’t get any. Prithvi Shaw took home the man of the match award for his epic 379—the highest score ever by a Mumbai batsman in Ranji Trophy.


Mumbai clash next with Delhi in the capital from January 17, followed by a home game against Maharashtra at Brabourne Stadium on January 24.
