Although a thorough investigation will take place into the bubble breach that led to the suspension of IPL-14 after just 29 matches, the first set of grilling will be of the BCCI’s medical team whose prime responsibility was to ensure the T20 tournament went off smoothly.

The medical team had prepared an exhaustive SOP (Standard Operation Procedure) and it was expected that all involved in the tournament would adhere to it without any compromise.

“There is no doubt that the medical team will have to do a lot of answering now. Many questions will be asked about how the bubble was breached. We have to understand where and why the lapses happened and what was done to fix it,” a BCCI source told mid-day on Wednesday.

It is learnt that the BCCI engaged Ahmedabad-based Neuberg Supratech to manage the bio bubble in Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Chennai and Delhi.

The first leg of the tournament in Mumbai and Chennai went off smoothly but the Coronavirus somehow caught up with IPL teams like KKR, Delhi Capitals, Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad when the action moved to Ahmedabad and New Delhi.

Besides this organisation, the BCCI had also appointed bubble managers who were tasked with safeguarding the bubble at all times.

When the matches moved to Delhi and Ahmedabad, the BCCI tightened the bubble with measures like mandatory testing brought down from five days to two and disallowing outside food service to the team hotel.
