WT20: Pak keeper Sarfraz's uncle told him 'Pakistan can never beat India'

Almost a year before MS Dhoni's men beat Shahid Afridi & Co at the Eden Gardens in the World Twenty20 encounter on Saturday, Sarfaraz Ahmed's uncle told him that Pakistan would lose to arch rivals

Some of Pakistan wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed's family members here in India were over the moon when MS Dhoni's men beat Shahid Afridi & Co at the Eden Gardens in a World T20 encounter on Saturday.

"Pakistan can never win against India. I had told Sarfraz this when I went to Karachi to attend his wedding last year," Mehboob Hasan, Sarfraz's mamu (uncle) and brother of his mother (Akeela Banu), said over the phone from his home in Uttar Pradesh.

"We were unable to go to Kolkata (to watch the match) as my children have their exams," Hasan, head clerk at Etawah's Agricultural Engineering College, which is close to UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav's home, added.

Hasab is however, looking forward to meeting his nephew in Mohali soon. "I am leaving for Mohali on March 24 and will watch Pakistan play Australia. I will be meeting Sarfraz there," said Hasan.

The migration story
"Sarfraz (28) is coming to India after 25 years. He was three when he came with his mother, for my wedding in 1991," recalled Hasan, going on to explain how Sarfraz's family migrated to Pakistan.

"During partition, Sarfraz's grandfather (Haji Vakil Ahmed), who was living in Fatehpur, moved to Karachi, where he studied and became chairman of the education board. Sarfraz's father (Haji Shakeel Ahmed) was born there. After marriage, the couple went back to Karachi and Sarfraz was born there." Last year, Hasan and his family visited Karachi for Sarfraz's wedding.
