But Sehwag's superstition is not only restricted to India vs Sri Lanka one-day matches. In fact, the dasher from Delhi has been backing all other teams to win against India since 2004.
"There was a stage where we kept losing a lot of matches so I thought of this superstition of believing other teams would win. It has worked," said a delighted Sehwag after contributing to India's three-run win over the tourists with a splendid hundred. Sehwag suffered a knee injury while fielding in the first part of the Sri Lanka innings so he watched a good portion of the match from the dressing room. "I was backing Sri Lanka to win till the 49th over. But when Ashish Nehra started bowling the final over, I knew India would end up winning. Ashish bowled splendidly. I think he sent down several yorkers in his last five overs. That contributed a lot to our cause," said Sehwag.
