A little later, the BCCI contacted him to confirm the news. Gavaskar was all set to return home, but was told that he would have to attend a pre-IPL meeting in Dubai where the first leg of the T20 extravaganza will be held from April 16 to 30. Photographers gathered at Mumbai’s domestic airport to click the new big boss of the BCCI but had to return once they learned about him proceeding to Dubai.
In Dhaka, Kapil Dev and Ravi Shastri expressed their delight over the news of their former colleague being confirmed as BCCI chief. “After this appointment through the Supreme Court, other sporting bodies could have sportspersons gaining top posts,” said Kapil.
