"To discuss something like this (three days after Dalmiya's death) is not right. Speculation will be on, someone will run CAB. It's too early to comment because it has just been three days."

This is what Sourav Ganguly told reporters after his meeting with Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday. Little did he realise then that 24 hours later, he would be addressing the media as the new CAB president. There are certain CAB officials, who are against this move but they can't be seen slamming Banerjee.

Those who believe in post-gaining through elections cannot view this as a fair appointment. Probably, more shocking is the appointment of Dalmiya's son Avishek as one of the two joint secretaries. Avishek has no cricket administrative experience and his father never gave the impression that he wanted his son to be part of the CAB.

All these years, a certain section of cricket lovers have expressed the opinion that politics should never mix with sport whenever there has been talk about the resumption of India vs Pakistan cricket ties. Now, doesn't this appear to be a classic example of politics mixing with sport?
