Skipping WI tour has affected Sachin's form: Gavaskar

Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar reckoned that Sachin Tendulkar's decision to stay out of June's West Indies tour has affected the master batsman's form in the ongoing Test series in England.

Tendulkar failed yet again in the first innings here yesterday when he edged an away going Stuart Broad delivery to the slips after scoring just oneu00a0 run. "I think missing the West Indies trip has not really worked for Sachin. May be he'll score three centuries in the next three innings, but I thinku00a0 he is finding it difficult to get the right movement and the body balance because he has not played competitive cricket," Gavaskar told NDTV.

The former India captain said Tendulkar had made technical errors in the series so far. "He's been very tentative and that's why he hasn't got runs in the first four innings. He did get a half century at Trent Bridge, but even during that game he was going for shots outside the off stump. He is not certain where his off stump is and when that happens you tend to play at a lot of deliveries that you would leave alone," said Gavaskar.
