Former Pakistan captain and commentator, Ramiz Raja expects an all-Asia final. "I see India and Sri Lanka in the final which should be a cracker, but India have the edge because of the way they have played so far in this competition," he said.
Pakistan's former captain and batting maestro, Javed Miandad who had not ruled the possibility of an India and Pakistan final said he was disappointed this will not happen now. "Pakistan was close to getting another shot at India but now we are out and the Indians appear to be strong favorites for the title," Miandad said.
Right attitude
Miandad said India were playing the World T20 with the right attitude and they are being led well by Dhoni. "They have the best spinners for the conditions and their batsmen are in firing mode to topple the competition," Miandad told mid-day.
Former captain Mohammad Yousuf expects an India vs Sri Lanka final. "But I get the feeling that batsmen are allowing spinners to dominate them and this is where the Indian batsmen can change the trend." Meanwhile, Pakistan's humiliating exit from the World T20 has left cricket fans, pundits and former players stunned.
Latif remarked: "In the Asia Cup, we lost the final but people digested the loss because we had got the better of the Indians in the tournament. It has been double disappointment for the people," he told mid-day.
Obviously some heads are expected to roll after the timid manner in which Pakistan surrendered to the West Indies on Tuesday. The first indications of this came when the Pakistan head coach, Moin Khan, senior consultant Zaheer Abbas and flamboyant all-rounder, Shahid Afridi returned home from Dhaka on Tuesday evening.
Afridi blasted the team for having a negative mindset and not being fearless while Zaheer said a post mortem would be held and players who have failed time and again will have to go. PCB Chairman, Najam Sethi has also promised a post mortem but in the meantime, many former players have tipped India to win the World T20 title.
