One of the members of the Mudgal Committee, Nilay Dutta, who presented another report to the Supreme Court on Monday, has said in his report (a copy of which is with MiD DAY) that Raj Kundra’s suspension from the IPL should stay, pending enquiry.

Under the subhead ‘allegation of betting against Mr and Mrs Raj Kundra’, the report said: “It would be in fitness of things that pending final determination of the culpability of the Kundras, they be kept suspended from participating in any activity of the BCCI including the IPL matches in view of the materials on record.”

There were reports that the Delhi Police, who busted the spot fixing scandal in the last IPL, had revealed that Kundra admitted to betting in the IPL.

Dutta’s report also stated that it was Kundra who introduced certain Rajasthan Royals players to alleged bookie Umesh Goenka. “It is also on record that one Siddharth Trivedi, a player of Rajasthan Royals in his statement under Section 164 CrPC recorded on 05.06.2013 by the Learned Magistrate reveals that he was introduced to Goenka by Kundra in an after match party of IPL. Kundra had also introduced Goenka with other team players of RR like Ajith Chandela (sic) and others.

“Later in many occasions he (Goenka) used to call Trivedi asking about the pitch conditions, but he used to avoid him and didn’t give any information. He stated further that there was one occasion when Goenka called him and stated that Kundra was aware of him asking all these information from Trivedi,” the report said.

The report stated, “There seems to have been an effort to cover up the involvement of Kundra in betting” before adding, “it may be put on record at this stage that Sundar Raman, the Chief Operating Officer, IPL, had deposed before the Committee that YP Singh from ICC ACSU had verbally informed him earlier that there were reports alleging that a number of owners/team officials were involved in betting on IPL matches.”
