Warne confirmed the break-up on Tuesday night before adding: "I'm just a man doing the best I possibly can."

Speaking on TV in Australia, Warne (44) said: "Elizabeth and I are still friends — we catch up when we can. It's a shame it's all over and done, but that's the way it goes. You've got to take the good with the bad."

Warne romanced multi-millionaire Michelle (42) with champagne and roses at a posh London hotel during a four-hour tryst on February 15. This, after the spin legend spent Valentine's night with ex-fiancee Liz at Donnington Hall, near Ledbury, Herefordshire, in a bid to patch up their on-off relationship.

During the interview, the show host read out The Sun headline on Monday: "Over the shoulder bowler bowls over an over the shoulder boulder holder moulder." Presenter Karl Stefanovic said: "You've got to admit it's a clever headline!"

To this, Warne replied: "Well, whatever mate. Basically, it's no one's business. For the record, all I need to say for now is I roll and yawn. Basically, that's it."
