IPL fixing probe: Sreesanth, Dawood chargesheeted

The Delhi Police today filed its voluminous charge sheet in a court here in the IPL spot-fixing case naming underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, his close aide Chhota Shakeel and some cricketers, including S Sreesanth, as accused while Rajasthan Royals' captain Rahul Dravid has been made a witness

Besides them, the other accused include suspended players of Rajasthan Royals Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandila, bookies Ashwani Agarwal, Ramesh Vyas, Deepak Kumar, Sunil Bhatia and Firoz Farid Ansari and ex-Ranji player Baburao Yadav.

The charge sheet, filed before link Additional Sessions Judge Vinay Kumar Khanna, said that as per the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) report on call intercepts, one of the voices has been identified as that of Dawood and a witness has identified the don's voice and number.


The police filed the 6,000-page charge sheet against 39 persons in which eight are in judicial custody, 21 are out on bail and rest 10 are absconding. All the accused have been chargesheeted for offences of cheating and conspiracy under IPC and provisions of stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).

The other accused named in the charge sheet are Javed Chutani, Salman, Manoj Guddewar, Amit Kumar, Jiju Janardhan, Chandresh Patel, Ramakant Aggarwal, Rakesh, Kiran Dole, Mohd Yahya, Manan, Ajay Goel, Love Garg, Amit Gupta, Bhupender Nagar, Sunil Saxena, Sayed Durez Ahmed, Vikash Chowdhury, Vinod Sharma, Nitin Jain, Abhishek Shukla and Jitender Jain.

The police had on May 16 arrested Sreesanth, Chandila and Chavan of Rajasthan Royals on the charges of cheating and conspiracy. Police also slapped provisions of MCOCA against the accused, saying they were acting under the command of Dawood and Chhota Shakeel.

In the same case, the court had on June 10 granted bail to Sreesanth, Chavan and 19 for lack of evidence against them to be charged under MCOCA. u00a0
