Graeme Pollock has known the best names in cricket and that includes the greatest batsman — Sir Donald Bradman and the greatest all-round cricketer - Sir Garfield Sobers under whom he played for the Rest of the World in the Australian summer of 1971-72. He has known Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar too ever since they were in the same Rest of the World team that battled against Ian Chappell's team.
However, at Cape Town last Saturday, Pollock was delighted to meet another icon – Virat Kohli. Pollock, who turned 74 on Tuesday, spent a few moments with the India captain apart from sharing the platform with him as Gavaskar and he (Pollock) presented the ICC Test Championship mace to Kohli.

"He is a wonderful guy and cricket sure needs people like him to be admired and respected. Kohli has done a tremendous job for India and his focus is simply outstanding. I just love the way he bats. Clearly, he's the best player in the world and I was very glad to handover the mace to a tremendous player," Pollock told mid-day yesterday.
"It was wonderful to watch India and the way they won in the Johannesburg Test and the limited overs series in South Africa. They dominated SA and deserve their success." Pollock was disappointed to see South Africa crumble in the Durban Test against Australia yesterday.
