The Indian football team was without a coach since Englishman Bob Houghton quit the job last year.
Koevermans will make a presentation before the executive committee. The 51-year-old was part of the Netherlands squad that won the 1988 European Championship. Indian coaches like Armando Colaco and Savio Medeira (whose contract expired on May 31) were given shorter stints, but without much success.
Koevermans’ first assignment with the Indian team is likely to be the Nehru Cup, expected to be held from August 16-26.u00a0
