On a blustery day, the Kiwis thought they had England's number when they put them in to bat first, hoping the moisture in the pitch would do the trick after all the overnight rain. But it was not to be as the home side ran up an impressive total of 310 before being bowled out in 49.3 overs.
Eventually, the visitors were bowled out for 223 and England won by 87 runs with 6.3 overs to spare.
New Zealand were in the game till their skipper Kane Williamson was at the wicket. After a century in the first game against Australia, he looked set for another till he was done in by a peach of a delivery by Mark Wood.
