South Korean employee kidnapped in Libya

Some unidentified gunmen abducted a South Korean government employee in Tripoli Sunday, a South Korean embassy official said.

Han Seok-woo, the head of the Libya unit of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), was kidnapped by unidentified gunmen on his way back home from his office late afternoon, Xinhua quoted the official as saying.


South Korean foreign ministry confirmed the incident, saying the trade official was kidnapped by four unidentified men and the purpose of the kidnapping was not yet known.


Han, in his late 30s, has worked in the Tripoli office since July 2012, the South Korean Yonhap news agency reported.
