Hundreds are feared trapped after a massive landslide in Kerala`s Wayanad district early today, July 30. The landslide hit Meppady, Mundakkai, and Chural Mala following heavy rains. Reports say 24 people have died, and over 70 are injured in Wayanad landslide. Emergency teams, including 250 members from Fire and Rescue, Civil Defence, NDRF, and local units, are working to rescue those trapped. An additional NDRF team is on the way. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his sadness and announced compensation of ₹2 lakh for each deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured. Congress MP K Suresh described the situation as worsening, while Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi pledged to seek more help from Union ministers. President Droupadi Murmu also extended her condolences. Rescue efforts are ongoing as the community and authorities respond to this devastating disaster.
