Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar arrived in Islamabad, Pakistan, on October 15 for the 23rd Meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Heads of Government. This visit is notable as it is the first by an Indian EAM in nearly nine years; the last visit was by Sushma Swaraj in 2015. Jaishankar`s trip follows India`s hosting of the SCO meeting in Goa 1.5 years ago. During his visit, Dr. Jaishankar had a rare exchange of gestures with Pakistan`s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, as they greeted each other and shook hands, signaling a moment of diplomacy. Jaishankar also attended a dinner hosted for the SCO leaders. The meeting in Islamabad is taking place under stringent security measures to ensure the event runs smoothly. With this visit, both countries hope to enhance dialogue and cooperation in the region, making it a significant step in India-Pakistan relations
