A tragic incident in West Bengal`s Darjeeling district on June 17 resulted in the loss of at least five lives and left over 20 individuals injured when a goods train collided with the Kanchenjunga Express. Jaya Varma Sinha, Railway Board CEO, attributed the cause to the negligence of the train`s driver, who disregarded a signal. Both the driver and the guard of the Kanchenjunga Express lost their lives in the accident. Following the rescue operation, comprehensive support measures have been implemented, including help desks at all railway stations along the Agartala-Sealdah route, to assist those affected by this devastating incident.
