India has recorded 405 new Covid-19 cases and four deaths, according to the Union Health Ministry data.


The data updated on Tuesday also mentioned that the active cases in the country have decreased to 7,104 from 7,623. 


While four persons died due to the virus a day ago, the death toll has increased to 5,31,843.

The Covid case tally was recorded at 4.49 crore.

The active cases now comprise 0.02 per cent of the total infections. India's Covid-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.80 per cent.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,44,48,392 and the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.18 per cent.

Yesterday, India recorded 473 new Covid-19 infections, and 7,623 active cases. Seven people were reported death due to Covid-19 on May 22.

According to the ministry's website, 220.66 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra on Monday reported 24 Covid-19 cases. the Covid-19 tally increased to 81,68,913, while the death toll remained unchanged at 1,48,549.

Mumbai circle led with 17 cases, followed by four in Pune circle, two in Nagpur circle and one in Nashik circle, he said.

The recovery count in the state increased by 22 to touch 80,19,877, leaving the state with 485 active cases, as per official data.

As per a state health department report, 1,948 coronavirus tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, taking the overall number of such tests to 8,71,39,710.
