After the arrest of three junior clerks from the Examination department of the University of Pune (UoP), the role of the examiners who revaluated the papers is now being scrutinised.
Police have a reason to believe that the clerks were working hand in glove with the examiners after they received bribes from the students who submitted their examination papers forrevaluation.u00a0

The UoP’s Vice-Chancellor Dr W N Gade said that the administration has already produced the detailed list of examiners to the police. “Police have been inquiring about the examiners, as they doubt the role of examiners in this scam. We have already submitted the list of all examiners to the cops,” Gade said.
Chatushrungi police on Tuesday arrested the three clerks suspended by the UoP — Ashok Ranavade, Ramesh Shelar and Chetan Parbhane — and produced them in the court. The trio was remanded in police custody till today.
When asked what efforts the UoP administration is taking to ensure strict action for the culprits, Gade said, “This is the first time the UoP had constituted a fact-finding committee under a retired senior police officer. After the committee submitted the report, we quickly swung into action by filing a police complaint, and are cooperating with the cops.”
When asked of the possible involvement of senior officials from the Examination department in the scam, Gade replied, “We are planning to conduct a detailed audit of the examination department. We have formed a small group for this task. The aim is to restructure the examination department.” u00a0
