Jammu: One terrorist has been nabbed by security forces after the Udhampur militant attack, in which two BSF jawans were killed. The militant captured is a Pakistani, police sources said.

The young militant, identified as Qasim Khan, is from the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorist group and hails from Gujranwala in Pakistan, the sources said.

He was part of a militant gang that attacked the Border Security Force convoy killing two troopers and injuring 11 on the Jammu-Srinagar highway in Udhampur district earlier in the morning.

The attackers then fled to a village where they took three people hostage. Security forces encircled the village and later freed the hostages -- and captured the Pakistani terrorist.

"Two jawans have been martyred till now and a terrorist has been killed," said Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju, who is currently in Imphal.

"Our forces are engaging the groups and I hope very soon they will be neutralized. Such incidents are normally taken seriously by our agencies and our forces. So necessary and effective response will be given," he added.

Meanwhile, Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) Dr. Jitendra Singh added that he was constantly in touch with the district administration over the incident.

"It is certainly an unfortunate incident. I have been keeping in touch with the district administration and also the district collector over there, Shahid Iqbal," he said.
