Police blame poor construction material
In an incident that highlights the apathy of construction companies, a four-storey building in Gurunanak Nagar area of Tilak Nagar in west Delhi collapsed on Sunday evening. The police say it collpased due to poor quality of construction material.
Two children and a woman were injured when the under-construction building came down. It had no occupants.
According to the police, the two children were playing outside the building while a woman was standing in front of it when it fell. Rescue operation was on till late night but fire officials said that no one was trapped under the debris.
The three injured are reported to be out of danger and are admitted at Maharaja Agrasen Hospital. One of the injured identified as Ratan, five, is a resident of the area while the other child is unidentified.
A Maruti van parked outside the house was damaged while the electric pole next to the house came crashing effecting the electric supply in the area.
DCP (West) Sharad Agarwal said, "Rescue operations are on and we are trying to trace the owner and contractor of the house." Meanwhile, a case has been registered at Tilak Nagar police station.
