Ex-cricketer helps cops in the campaign; more to follow

The Delhi Police's campaign to spread awareness about the traffic rules among general public was lent a helping hand by ex-cricketer on Monday. BJP leader Kirti Azad assisted the traffic cops in educating vehicle drivers about the traffic laws and importance of strictly following the same.

"Whether you are travelling on roads or playing cricket, one needs to concentrate. If we lose concentration, then the chance of accident increases. Sachin Tendulkar plays with great concentration and that is why he plays so well. If we apply this principal on roads, then only we will able to follow the traffic rules and egulations properly," said Azad he was assisting the police at the ITO in Central Delhi as part of Delhi Police's.

Azad 's awareness lesson however had some 'rude' moments too. A car driveru00a0 who was admonished by Azad for not wearing the seat belt and ignoring the basics of safe driving, replied to former cricketer rather rudely that it was his seat belt and it wasu00a0 up to him (driver) whether he wanted to wear it or not.u00a0

According to Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Satyendra Garg, besides Azad, other ex-cricketers too have come forward to assist the traffic police in spreading awareness about road safety among the people.
"Former cricketers Bishan Singh Bedi, Madan Lal and Maninder Singh have also expressed willingness to join the campaign. We are hoping to get good response from the general public to our campaign." said Garg.
