Seeing a rise in the number of fire incidents in the city, the department will induct 1,854 recruits in addition to 7 new fire stations


Keeping in mind theu00a0 increase in city population and the number of fire incidents, the Karnataka State Fire and Emergency Services plans to induct seven more fire stations. The BBMP has 198 wards now, compared to the earlier 100 wards. Now the government has sanctioned few more fire stations for Bangalore and other districts in the state.

As of now there are 12 fire stations and the newest one on Sarjapur Road is ready to operate very shortly.
With you, for you Other new stations to come up in the city are at Jakkur, Nagarbhavi, Banashankari VI Stage, Hulimavu, EPIP Area-Whitefield, Sunkadakatte and one at the Vikasa Soudha premises.

A senior fire official said, "The government has sanctioned Rs.1.5 crore to set up a fire station inside the Vikasa Soudha premises. The construction will take off shortly. Operations at the Sarjapur Road fire station will start shortly. The other stations will be completed in another year's time. The Jakkur fire station will be constructed under Public Private Partnership."

"The government has already sanctioned another 44 fire stations across the state, and they would be ready in the next two years. At present there are 165 fire stations and four protection squads in 140 taluks (out of 176 taluks) in 30 districts. These additional fire stations will cover the remaining 36 taluks and additional requirements of the city," he added.

An official said that the the department will also expand its manpower and will recruit 1,854 personnel in different cadres. The recruitment process is likely to start shortly and is expected to complete in a year's time.
