Police say 'no' to Hazare fast

Gandhian Anna Hazare and his supporters have been denied permission to go on fast here Tuesday as they had not agreed to certain conditions, Delhi Police said Monday.

Joint Commissioner of Police Sudhir Yadav said that if Team Hazare went ahead with its protest at the JP Park in the heart of the city, it would be deemed an unlawful gathering.

"We have denied (them permission)," Yadav told reporters, only hours after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh asked people not to resort to hunger strikes in their campaign against corruption.
