The Delhi Police might have arrested the kingpin of the fire gang, but incidents involving similar modus operandi are happening quite regularly in the Capital. On Sunday, two cell-phone outlets were burgled and set on fire by unidentified persons in Chitranjan Park area in South Delhi

This is the third such incident to occur in a month.u00a0 The incident took place in K1 Block and police were informed of the incident by the local shopkeepers. "We got a call that two shops had been set on fire. When we reached the spot, we foundu00a0u00a0 that the outlets had been set on fire by thieves after committing the theft. Their owners have claimed that cell-phones worth Rs 10 lakh have been stolen. We have lodged FIR," said the senior police official.

Fire official said that they received a call in this regard at around 4 in the morning. "We sent three fire engines to the spot and the fire was brought under control after an hour. Furniture of both the outlets was brunt," said a fire official.

Past incidents
A house of a government employee was robbed and then set on fire in Laxmi Bai Nagar area of south Delhi o March 6. The employee, Sunil Sharma, an officer in Central Secretariat, had gone to Ambala with his family to attend a marriage ceremony when the incident happened. In another incident on February 6, a house of a businessman, Vinay Shukla, was burgled and later set on fire. His family was in Kanpur to attend a marriage function when the incident occurred.
