Prime Minister Manmohan Singh underwent a successfully coronary bypass surgery on Saturday at AIIMS which reportedly lasted for over 12 hours. The Prime Minister was said to have multiple blockages in the heart which undertook five bypasses to be removed.
The PM will stay the premier institute for another 7-8 days and may resume for his official work only after six weeks. The surgery was conducted by a team of doctors headed by Dr Rama Kant Panda of Mumbai's Asian Heart Institute. The PM is expected to be under observation in ICCU for atleast next three days.
