Cold wave shuts down schools in Ranchi

Schools have been closed for six days till Jan 8 due to the continuing cold wave in Jharkand.

Deputy Commissioner of Ranchi Rajiv Arun Ekka made the announcement Friday night to close down the schools till Jan 8 after many schools opened Friday after the winter vacations.

The minimum temperature in Ranchi dipped up to 6 degree Celsius.

However, the move was opposed by the Parents' Association.

"The district administration is unnecessary trying to create trouble in the studies of students. This year the temperature is above in comparison to previous years," Parents' Association president Sanjay Seth said.
