Digital video recording to keep watch on online examinees

Not only CAT, now examination centres go digital too. With Common Admission Test (CAT) all set to shed the paper-and-pencil format this year, hi-tech measures are being taken for ensuring strict security. To keep watch on online examinees, all test centres will employ identity management (biometric) solution, digital image capture of all candidates and digital video recording of all testing activities.

Prometric, a leading US-based company that provides comprehensive testing and assessment services, is assuming responsibility for all aspects of the CAT computer-based test including uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), connectivity and security.

Ramesh Nava, Vice President and General Manager, Asia - Pacific, Japan & Africa of Prometric said, "Since introducing the first global network of computer-based testing centres in the early 1990's, our company has implemented hundreds of testing programs.u00a0 Foru00a0 the CAT 2009, every required step is being taken to ensure that the infrastructure meets the required standards."

The company is also focussing onu00a0 effictive communication highlighting the potential issues related to the online exam. "We will soon make the document available for candidates," said Nava.

Candidates will be able to test during a 10-day testing window across 32 Indian cities where hundreds of secure computer-based testing centers specially prepared for the CAT exam are strategically positioned throughout the country.

The nature of the exam will remain the same. A CAT sample test is available on the it's website for candidates to get a feel of the computer-based test (CBT).
