BJP aping PM Modi's 'cheap language' pattern: Tejaswi Yadav

Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Yadav's son Tejaswi, who is contesting the Bihar elections this year, lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'cheap' language on Monday, saying that he was encouraging the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders to do the same and resort to equally foul language.

'The Prime Minister who is so matured in age and stature has been continuously saying things that are hurting his image. He has been targeting my family through tweets and rally addresses, even my mother and sister have not been spared in his tirade,' Tejaswi told the reporters here.

In a message to the Prime Minister, Tejaswi said that he must make such cheap comments because his BJP leaders are doing the same and are stooping to such low levels without any fear of repercussion.

'Maybe he can sense his impending defeat which is why he and the BJP are resorting to the use of such language. Throughout their campaign they have spoken about everything except Bihar's development. How does renaming RJD to 'Rashtriya Jadu-Tona Party' help? Is it anywhere even close to development? Clearly they have no other issue left to talk about,' Tejaswi added.

He further hit out at Prime Minister Modi over his 'silence' on the issues that were crucial to the nation at present, and said that if he actually cared about the people, how was it possible for him to not do something or at least comment on it.

'Is he aware that it is the BJP ruled areas in Haryana where the Dalits are being targeted the most? The New York Times had taken out an article saying ever since he became the Prime Minister there has been rise in communal tension in the nation. Someone is getting ink attacked and on the other hands writers are returning their awards in protest. This is not the sign of a prosperous nation,' Tejaswi said.

He accused the Prime Minister of wanting to 'split' the nation in two for his own 'nefarious' purposes as he really does not care about the welfare of the people and said that since he is either campaigning or travelling abroad half the time, how exactly is he 'running' the nation.

Prime Minister Modi in his Bihar rallies yesterday had trained his guns on Lalu and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and slammed the 'brothers' of single-handedly destroying all the prospects the state had.

Attacking Lalu over the 'dark magic' row that is escalating by the minute in the ongoing Bihar polls, the Prime Minister has said that since the RJD supremo showed so much interest in talking about ways of warding off 'demons' he should change his party's name to 'Rashtriya Jaadu Tona Dal'.
